Visits to relatives in Chicago and Michigan, to descendants in Buffalo New York of those who worked for the Draytons and to colleagues in Washinton DC - seeings the sites connected with Archibald and Francis Grimke.

15-17 Aug: "Extending the Table" - Gathering of descendants of slaveholders and slaves and academics at the Fetzer Institute in Kalamazoo, Michigan (see the report and future plans). Coming to the Table Website.

19-26 Nov 08

Visits to Atlanta for the Global Day of Reconciliation on 22 November (details of the event can be found in www.globaldayofreconciliation.org) and to Charleston SC, 24 November lunchtime event at Drayton Hall to give talk on the work.

Arrival at Gatwick at 7.20am BBC South Today and Japanese Independent TV to cover the event. Pick up for four of the group from guest house at 11am by courtesy taxi(s) to be taken down to Southampton. 1pm visit to a school. 4pm BBC Radio Solent Interview. Tea break! TV interview at the studios of BBC South Today for the evening news at 6.30pm. Group taken back to guest house.

National Day of Reconciliation service organised by Dream Africa at 11am.
Arrival of Charleston and Dream Africa Groups at Christchurch Baptist Church for shared tea at 5.00pm. Evening service at CBC 7.00-8.30pm.

Following the Greenwich Slavery Trail (dependent on weather) filmed by Trinity Picture Company from Birmingham.

It is hoped that the group will meet up with descendants of William Wilberforce. Followed by lunch with descendants of abolitionists (Buxton family)

Slave ship sails into London at 10.45am, mooring near Tower Bridge. See paragraph 3.1 and 4 of the document The Spirit of Wilberforce. Civic reception planned onboard ship at 1pm. MPs view the exhibition at 3pm and between 5-6pm volunteers show people around the exhibition. Full details at Free At Last
